Chelsea Mitchell, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist providing evidence-based mental health services for children, adolescents, and families. Dr. Mitchell has a particular interest in treating children and adolescents with mood and anxiety disorders as well as those who have experienced trauma. She specializes in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), utilizing developmentally appropriate evidence-based interventions. Specialty areas include anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, attachment-based disorders, depression, grief and loss, as well as adjusting to life stressors such as divorce and bullying at school.
Dr. Mitchell, a native of South Bend, Indiana, obtained a BA in psychology from Saint Mary’s College. She completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky and her pre-doctoral internship at Washburn Center for Children in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Mitchell’s graduate training program and her pre-doctoral internship were both accredited by the American Psychological Association. Dr. Mitchell is currently completing her postdoctoral training at Next Step2MH. Her clinical training has focused on serving the needs of children, adolescents and families with a broad spectrum of emotional and behavioral struggles. She enjoys completing community presentations as an advocate for traumatized children in the community. Previous community presentations served Child Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) as well as for Uspiritus Residential Facility.
